Department of Textiles & Clothing was established in 1987 with the introduction of Masters programme. The subject is being offered at the undergraduate level in pass and honours level.

At the introductory level, both in Pass course and Honours, the course is aimed to sensitize the students to the various aspects of textiles and clothing. The students learn about fibers, yarns, fabrics, finishes, drafting of patterns and garment construction. In Honours stream students are given detailed information about Textile Chemistry, Apparel Design, Textile Design and Socio Economic and Cultural aspects of clothing.

The course outline at post-graduate level builds up their learning of the previous years. The subjects deal with specialized areas within the vast field of textiles and clothing. Doctoral studies are also being taken up in various subject areas. The departmental laboratories that are well equipped and library with latest collection of books enrich the excellent academic programme. The qualified and experienced faculty is an additional asset of the department.

The curriculum has vast theoretical base, supported by strong practical knowledge and complemented by Seminar, Dissertation, Outreach programmes, Internship and Field placements.
