Library Collection
Library has more than 49,000 + volumes in its collection which
includes 2,000+ research work (Dissertations and Thesis) and
more than 7,200 bound back files of periodicals. The collection
of library is strong in the areas of Post Graduate courses
college offers, viz: Food and Nutrition, Human Development &
childhood Studies, Fabric and Apparel Science, Resource
Management & Design applications, Development Communication and
Extension, Dietetics, Education and Special Education. The other
areas of collection are Food Technology, Food Science, Human
Growth and Personality Development, Children with Special Needs,
Gender Studies, Woman Studies, Apparel Design, Fashion
Designing, Sociology, Psychology, Communication, Management,
Applied Science etc… Library subscribes 108 periodicals of
academic nature published in India and overseas. The back files
of these are also maintained by the library.
Library Hours
Monday to Friday 08:00 a.m. to 05:00 p.m.
Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 04:00 p.m. (Only referral services are
extended on Saturday when library operates with skeletal staff).
On Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays – Falling during college
vacations – library remain closed.
During vacations (Autumn, Winter) Library is open from 10:00
a.m. to 04:00 p.m.
During stock verification period (summer vacations) library is
open for limited hours notified from time to time.
Membership
All students enrolled in undergraduate and postgraduate courses,
teachers and Non teaching are eligible for Library membership.
Research scholars are also enrolled as members by charging
Library fee of Rs. 1,000/- per annum. To avail issue facilities
they need to pay Rs. 1,000/- as library security as well.
Outside readers are also given membership (for referral services
only) at the payment of Rs. 150/- per month or Rs. 1000/- for
the year.
Membership is also extended to retired faculty of the college on
the payment of Rs.500/- and issuing facilities are also extended
by charging Rs. 500/- as library security.
Services
Admission to the library is
restricted to its members only.
Provision of direct access to book stacks and freedom to browse
among books during specified hours in the library.
Borrowing facilities to its members. Dissertations and
Periodicals are not issued.
Online Public Access Catalogue search facility of library
holdings.
Access to digital databases through National and International
Network connections.
Access to databases on CD’S acquired by the library.
Bibliographical services.
Xeroxing facilities available on payment (on contractual basis).
Library Automation:
It
has been the endeavor of the library to keep pace with modern
technology. Library has become ‘Digital Library’ by automating
its services and facilitating access to literature / data
provisions (printed and digital both), providing network
connections, and digitizing its collection
Library is equipped with 25 computers. This includes one high
level Compaq Proliant server with 12 clients attached to it. In
addition 14 PIV are attached to ERNET through DU wireless loop
and available for INTERNET surfing.
Library provides
OPAC facilities of library database (of its holdings) for
searches by many strings and its availability on INTERNET
through DELNET .
The database of available periodical is also available on OPAC
for searches.

College was identified as one of the first 5 colleges, initially
selected to be connected to ERNET with Delhi University Wireless
Loop in the year 2002-03. Since then library got connected with
ERNET and has 24 hour ERNET (Department of Electronics)
connection and has access to many databases viz: INGENTA, J-
STORE, EBSCO, SCOPUS databases, and other online journal
subscriptions of Delhi University
Library gives INTERNET, DELNET, and other National and
International Networks surfing facilities also to its members as
a support to academic and research activities.
Free net surfing facilities to all members is being provided,
with other online free publications in public domain.
Library has acquired many digital databases(C D’s) – ISID
version-3, GRHF, TATA STATISTICAL DATABASE to name a few, and
acquiring many more.
Today, library is fully automated with all its subsystems and
use bar coded Library ID card for document transactions
(Circulation).
Library continued to have Xerox facility on payment (on
contractual basis).
Future:
Along with accepting the
challenge of keeping pace with modern technology, Library is
working on renovating its building, providing latest reading
room facilities, furniture and aims to become a‘ State of Art’
library.
