Applications for admission to B.Sc. Home Science (Honours / Pass) should reach the college office on or before June 16, 2008, Each application should be accompanied by

  1. Attested copies of Certificates and Statement of Marks.
  2. Attested copy of Birth Certificate if not given in (i) above.
  3. Certificate from the Principal of the School/College last attended (Provisional Certificate).

The first Admission List will be put up on the College Notice Board on the date prescribed by the University of Delhi and subsequent lists will be put up subject to availability of seats. No Intimation will be sent to the candidates . They are advised to check the lists put up on the College Notice Board.

All those who are granted admission provisionally are required to pay the college fees, on or before the dates prescribed for the same and also submit the following documents in original.

  1. Certificates of the examination passed.
  2. Birth certificate.
  3. Statement of marks.
  4. Two copies of recent passport-size photograph (indicating name, class and address behind the photograph).
  5. Certificate of Health on the prescribed form.

Note : A Pay-in-slip booklet will be issued to the candidates for depositing the fees directly at the Extension Counter of the Syndicate Bank, Lady Irwin College, New Delhi. Bank timings: Weekdays 10.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. (Monday to Friday).

If the fees and the original certificates are not received by the due date, the admission granted to the candidate will be treated as cancelled .

CANCELLATION OF ADMISSION :

If any candidate seeks admission on wrong information in respect of age, subject, percentage of marks, special categories etc., her admission will stand cancelled at the time when it comes to the notice of College/University.

HOSTEL ACCOMODATION:

A limited number of seats are available in the College Hostel. Hostel accommodation will be given to candidates from out-station who have responsible local guardians in Delhi. Parents are requested to send application on separate form available in the Hostel Office, along with the application for admission. The form for the Hostel is available at the office.

Admission to hostel will be allowed only if applied for at the time of submitting application form for admission to the course. Admission to hostel will not be on merit basis only. Please note that if the Hostel seat is not applied for during admission, the student will not be eligible.

Hostel accomodation in subsequent year of the academic course is not assured. Any candidate not fulfilling the attendance require ment during the current academic year will be denied the hostel seat in the next academic session.

Students who fail in the Ist year Examination in the B.Sc. course and are seeking re-admission will be considered as fresh applicants for the purpose of admission.

Age requirement for admission as on 1st October of the year of admission

1st year B.Sc 17 years.
M.Sc., B.Ed. and Diploma in Dietetics 20 years.

Relaxation of the limit may be granted by the Vice-Chancellor up to a maximum period of one year.

Number Of Seats : The number of seats in each course for the admission to be made in 2005 is as follows:

B.Sc. (Pass) Home Science - 1st year 144
B.Sc. (Honours) Home Science - 1st year: 60
M.Sc. Home Science - Part - I 48 (12 in each specialisation)
B.Ed. 60
Diploma in Dietetics and Public Health Nutrition 24

Incomplete application for admission to any of the courses will not be entertained.

Admission Under Special Category

  1. Maximum of 5% seats at the Undergraduate Level are reserved under special category which includes Sports, Music and Dance, Debate, etc. A separate form for admission under this category is to be filled. The form is available in the College Office.
  2. Candidates seeking admission under extra-curricular activities such as Sports, Music & Dance and Debate are required to furnish photocopies of the Certificates relating to the activity under which admission is sought along with the application.
  3. The sports certificates should be accompanied by a photograph of the sports person duly attested by the respective issuing Authority and the Head of the Institution last attended.
  4. Suitable candidates will be called for tests in the respective fields, the dates for which will be notified on the College Notice Board.
  5. Candidates called for these tests should submit the original certificates for scrutiny by the competent authority.
  6. The names of those selected under each category will be put up on the Notice Board at the appropriate time
  7. Having received admission under special category, the candidate will compulsorily be required to partici pate in Inter-college activities to justify her admission. She will be required to give an undertaking to this effect. In case a student fails to participate, the admission is liable to be cancelled.

Reservation and Concessions

(a) Provision for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe Candidate:

15% of the seats for scheduled Castes & 7½% for Scheduled Tribes (inter-changeable) be reserved in all under-graduate courses as per the Government of India instruction. Each Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe candidate who has passed the qualifying examination for the course concerned will be registered and in case after giving 5% relaxation the reserved seats still remain vacant, further relaxation will be given to the extent in order to fill up all the reserved seats.

A Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidate while applying for registration for any of the courses will be required to submit a certificate to the effect that she belongs to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe from the competent authority as listed below along with the application for registration.

  1. District Magistrate / Additional District Magistrate / Deputy Commissioner / Collector / Additional Deputy Commissioner / Deputy Collector / Ist Class Stipendiary Magistrate / City magistrate (Not below the rank of Ist class Stipendiary Magistrate) / Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Taluka Magistrate, Executive Magistrate / Extra Assistant Commissioner).
  2. Chief Presidency Magistrate/Additional Chief Presidency Magistrate/Presidency Magistrate.
  3. Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar.
  4. Sub-Divisional Officer of the area where the candidate and or her family normally resides.
  5. Administrator/Secretary to Administrator/Development Officer

(b) Children/Widows of Officers/Men of Armed Forces :

  1. The Children/Widows of the Officers and Men of the Armed Forces including Para-Military personnel, killed or disabled during hostilities, as also who died on duty, will be given concession of 5% marks in the minimum eligibility conditions as per rules of the University.
  2. Widow/Children of Officers and Men of the Armed Forces including Para-military personnel who died while on duty, will be considered for admission against the 5% seats in all the courses reserved for the Widow/Children of the Officers and Men of the Armed Forces including Para-military personnel killed or disabled in action in Wars 1947-48 onwards, if any seat remains vacant after admission of persons of the latter
    category.

In order to become eligible for the above concession the Widows/Children of Officers and Men of the Armed forces including Para-military personnel will be required to produce the Entitlement Certificate from any one of the following authorities:

 

(a) Secretary, Kendriya Sainik Board, Delhi.
(b) Secretary, Rajya/Zila Sainik, Board
(c) Officer-in-Charge, Record Office.
(d) Ist Class Stipendiary Magistrate.

(C) Physically Handicapped Students:

  1. Candidates with physical handicap will be given weightage or concession, as the case may require, upto 10% for placement in the merit list for admission to various courses other than the courses where admissions are made on the basis of competitive examination of the University.
  2. Candidates with physical handicap will be registered by the College in the first instance and thereafter their applications will be forwarded by them to the Registrar indicating the nature of work involved in pursuing the course.
  3. The candidates would thereafter be referred to Medical Board constituted for the purpose. The Board after examining the candidates concerned should indicate :

    (a) Whether the candidate is fit to pursue the course of study in the list of the information supplied by the Faculty/Department/College.

    (b) In case the Board is of the opinion that the candidate could pursue the course, in that event the Board would recommend, taking into account the extent of disability, the percentage of weightage to be given but not exceeding 10% in any individual case.
  4. After the Medical Board has made its recommendations on the lines indicated above, these would be forwarded by the Registrar to the concerned Faculty/Department /College to place the candidate in the merit list for the course concerned at the appropriate place.
  5. Only applications which are received in time would be considered.
  6. The cases of all candidates who apply for admission in this category should be finalised, as far as possible, within three weeks from the date of application.

(d) University Employees' Quota :

The eligible wards of Teaching and Non-teaching staff of College/University will be condsidered as per University Rules.

(e) Foreign Students :

Some seats are available/reserved for foreign students. These students have to pay an extra amount in Indian Rupees equivalent to US $100 per year, to the college concerned along with the Annual Fees on being given admission. This amount is in addition to the foreign students registration fees being collected by the University.
